For a front approach, if the depth of the alcove is greater than 24 inches (610 mm), then in addition to the 30 inch (760 mm) width, a maneuvering clearance of 6 inches (150 mm) in width is required.
For a side approach, where the depth of the alcove is greater than 15 inches
(380 mm), then in
addition to the 48 inch (1220 mm) length, an additional maneuvering clearance
of 12 inches in
length (305 mm) is required.
